'Our Mission Consists of Only Eliminating' - How Sudan's Ruthless Paramilitary Group Conducted a Massacre

Fighters chuckle as they ride on the rear of a utility vehicle, speeding past a line of nine dead bodies and driving in the direction of the descending African evening sky.

"Observe this extensive effort. Look at this genocide," a fighter exclaims.

The individual smiles as he points the camera on himself and his fellow combatants, their Rapid Support Forces badges visible: "They are all going to be killed in this manner."

These individuals are rejoicing over a atrocity that relief organizations suspect killed more than 2,000 people in the African metropolis of the Darfur city in recent weeks.

A City Severed from the Globe

Following their control of the community under blockade for approximately two years, from late summer the militia proceeded to strengthen its position and restrict the surviving inhabitants.

Space-based imagery reveal that forces started to erect a massive sand wall - a raised sand barrier - surrounding the boundaries of el-Fasher, sealing off access routes and preventing aid.

While the blockade intensified, multiple individuals were murdered in an paramilitary strike on a mosque on 19 September, while the international organization stated fifty-three more were murdered in unmanned aircraft and heavy weapon attacks on a displacement camp in the autumn.

At dawn on 26 October the RSF defeated the final military defenses and took control of the primary headquarters in the community, the command center of the Army Division, as the government forces withdrew.

One of the most disturbing videos to surface and analysed revealed the results of a massacre at a educational facility on the western side of the community, where scores dead bodies were observed scattered across the ground.

A senior person clad in a white tunic sat isolated amid the corpses. The individual rotated to gaze as a fighter armed with a firearm walked along the steps in the direction of the victim. Raising his rifle, the shooter released a solitary round at the victim, who collapsed to the floor lifeless.

"How come is this individual still living," a combatant exclaimed. "Execute this person."

Satellite images taken on late October appeared to substantiate that killings were also performed on the roads of el-Fasher, based on a report published by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.

One observer who provided testimony reported the individual had seen "many of our family members being killed - the victims were collected in a specific area and everyone killed."

Paramilitary Officers Try to Implement Public Relations

In the days that followed the atrocity, paramilitary chief admitted that his forces had carried out "atrocities" and stated the occurrences would be looked into.

Part of the arrested was following a report recording his killings. Carefully orchestrated and modified footage posted on the militia's official social media account depict the commander being led into a prison room at a jail on the edges of al-Fashir.

At the same time, the militia and affiliated digital channels began trying to reframe the story.

Updates showing its militiamen handing out assistance to civilians were disseminated by several users, while the force's public relations unit published numerous clips allegedly to show the compassionate handling of government captives.

In spite of the social media effort being deployed by the militia, their actions in the city have generated international outrage.
